Description
Bai Hao Yin Zhen (白毫银针, lit. White Hair Silver Needle) is considered to be the highest grade of white tea, consisting only of the buds from the Fuding Da Bai cultivar. The name of this tea comes from its long and thin shape, with plenty of white fuzzy hairs or trichomes along the bud. Silver Needle is a classic introductory white tea, having a light, refreshing taste and a mild character. This tea was compressed into cakes (100 grams each) and aged for 3 years. Over time, it has developed to be more mellow and sweet. Diantou village is known as the No.1 village for Chinese white tea, despite having a relatively lower elevation compared to other white tea core producing regions in Fuding. It is also the origin place of the Fuding Da Bai cultivar and the center of white tea trade and exchange.
