- Description
- Huangjing Town lies in Gulin County, southeastern Sichuan, close to the border with Guizhou Province. The surrounding Huangjing Laolin area is known for its forested mountains and old tea trees, making it one of Sichuan's lesser-known ancient tea tree regions. This is our Club's first selection from Huangjing, introducing a distinctive tea-growing landscape beyond Sichuan's better-known production areas. According to the producer, the tea comes from large-leaf arbor tea trees growing at elevations of approximately 1,000–1,500 meters near the Huangjing Laolin scenic area. The region is reported to contain tea trees ranging from several decades to centuries old, with some claimed to be more than a thousand years old. The leaves for this black tea were harvested in early April 2026. The producer describes a rich, sweet, and smooth tea with a distinctive aroma and a clear golden-orange liquor. The tea is also said to have excellent endurance across multiple infusions, with the producer suggesting as many as 15 brews. We hope this selection offers a memorable introduction to the ancient tea tree traditions of southern Sichuan.
