- Description
- Bulang Arbor King is meticulously crafted from the early spring first flush leaves of large arbor trees in the northeastern reaches of Bulang Mountains near Pasha village. Distinguished from typical Bulang sheng puerh, this tea offers a unique profile. Unlike its bolder counterparts from the Bulang region, exemplified by Lao Ban Zhang, this tea strikes a gentle and soft balance, making it an approachable choice even for those new to sheng puerh. It departs from the usual intensity, providing a full-bodied experience adorned with abundant floral notes and a delightful huigan—a Chinese term denoting the return of sweetness after the initial bitterness and astringency subside. This tea is part of MyTeaPal Club’s January 2024 collection for a vintage comparison between ‘12, ‘14, ‘18, and ‘20 products. Sharing an origin, picking standard, processing technique, and storage environment, all four teas have matured gracefully in Chengdu since their creation.

Moving backwards 4 years from 2018 to 2014, we find Bulang Arbor King in a quiet mood. Youthful character has faded, but aged character just beginning to show.
