Anxi Oolong
Anxi county in the southeast of Fujian province is known as the tea capital of China. It has a long history for tea production and made significant impact to tea culture. This month, we selected from the core producing regions 4 Anxi oolong teas, 2 of which were freshly made in the autumn harvest, which is scarcer than spring harvest and coveted by many tea enthusiasts. Tie Guan Yin (aka Iron Goddess of Mercy) is one of the most popular teas exported from China. Traditionally, this tea was heavily roasted for long-term storage, yet the recent trend favors lower oxidation and roast level, which naturally produces orchid flower aroma. Huang Jin Gui (lit. Golden Osmanthus) is another popular tea from Anxi, named after its golden liquor color and osmanthus flower aroma. You'll also taste a Mei Zhan tea from the varietal's birthplace, Lutian town. Now, this varietal is widely used to produce rock oolong and black tea. Hope you can join our weekly events to virtually taste and discuss the same teas, and be sure to share our tea club with your friends or on social media #myteapal #myteapalclub.
