- Description
- Yi Hong is an umbrella term for black tea produced from Yichang and its surrounding regions. It became popular in the second half of the 19th century, when the demand for export surged. It’s known as one of "China's three famous congou black tea", together with Qi Hong and Dian Hong. As China’s black tea market expanded in the past two decades, Yi Hong became known and loved by more tea drinkers; It is the most popular black tea in Hubei province. This specific tea is from Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, which is located in the southwest of Yichang city.

This was interesting. Some of the steeps were too earthy for my tastes, but the fruity one was really good. Unfortunately, it went downhill quickly after that.

Be careful not to overstep as it brings out the more bitter dry sensation. Steeped fast and low temp brings out the most delicious lemon notes. Strong and lasting aftertaste.

Really loved this tea! Is this a Jin jun Mei? Looks like a Jin jun Mei and has a similar taste. This one is heavy on the burnt caramel and raisins or elderberry , with a sweet bread middle and a light camphor finish. Ver… more
