Description
The is an exceptionally rare and high-grade Bai Mu Dan, sourced from Panxi Town, Fuding, a region renowned for producing some of the finest white teas in China. This tea was harvested from wild, unmanaged tea gardens, where the tea trees had been left untended for decades—growing naturally without intervention, pruning, or chemical inputs. As a result, the tea retains an unparalleled depth and purity, shaped entirely by its pristine, high-elevation environment at over 550 meters.
Mu Dan Wang (牡丹王), or “Peony King,” is the highest grade of Bai Mu Dan (White Peony), positioned just below Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needle) in ranking. While Bai Mu Dan consists of both buds and leaves, Mu Dan Wang is carefully selected to include only the finest, larger buds and a minimal number of leaves—offering a slightly richer body than Silver Needle while preserving its delicate elegance.
The infusion yields a bright, golden liquor with a smooth, full-bodied texture. Its floral and honeyed aroma reflects the tea’s natural origin, while the taste is gentle, sweet, and layered, evolving with each infusion. With age, this Mu Dan Wang is expected to develop even warmer, more rounded notes, making it a perfect choice for both immediate enjoyment and long-term aging.
Notice: This tea was originally collected by us in 2022 and opened for our tea club and sale in 2025. It was mistakenly labeled as a 2022 harvest, but has since been corrected to 2017 to accurately reflect its true vintage.
Revisiting this phenomenal aged white peony king from Vincent. An exquisite example of my favorite style of white tea, bearing a distinct rose florality and notes of sweet white chocolate and warm hay.
