Description: Meng Ding Huang Xiao Cha, or “Yellow Small Tea,” is a balanced spring expression that sits between the delicacy of bud-only teas and the depth of larger-leaf styles. Harvested in early spring 2025 from Lao Chuan Cha trees on Wangjiashan at 1300–1400 meters, this tea is made from one bud with one to two tender leaves and shaped through a layered, traditional sequence: withering to reduce surface moisture; heat fixation to halt oxidation followed by an initial resting phase to build internal mellowness; rolling to influence leaf structure; then repeated cycles of pan-firing and resting to deepen complexity; shaping; two rounds of controlled drying; and final selection for consistency. The liquor is a bright golden-yellow, releasing fresh aromatics and a soft, sugar-like sweetness. A signature note of warm boiled corn water adds rounded, creamy depth beneath the floral brightness. The mouthfeel is smooth and lively—clean, naturally sweet, and refreshing without sharp edges. This Huang Xiao Cha makes for an inviting daily cup, showcasing traditional yellow tea craftsmanship with both vibrancy and gentle complexity.

At 80°c this tea excellent, gentle mellow, sweet. Unlike some marine green tea this yellow tea with those floral tones and dry corn notes remind me inland warm summer.

Beautiful tea but couldn’t find the center sweet spot on how to brew it. It had a strong vegetal fore taste but then dropped off the map with any mid or after taste. Perhaps too subtle? I’ll try again another time.
