Description
The name Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong literally means "Original Mountain Small Varietal", referring to the Tongmu Guan of the Tongmu village and the small leaf varietal used to produce this tea. This is a traditionally smoked Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong (or Lapsang Souchong), which is the earliest black tea style and was favored by the British royal family since several hundred years ago. Guadun is one of the four core areas for this tea, along with Miaowan, Jiangdun, and Masu. Guadun is a remote region with a great natural environment, famous for being an origin of biological type specimens in the world. This tea comes from Laocong (Old Bush) tea trees, meaning the tea trees are more robust and older than others. Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong is smoked over pine wood in smokehouses called Qing Lou, which are usually 3 or 4 stories tall with each floor serving a different purpose. It’s suggested to drink this tea after a period of transformation, because its pine wood smoke flavor is strong immediately after it finishes processing. The longer it’s stored, the better the flavor will transform. Therefore, we selected the 2021 Spring batch. Its longan and woody aroma and taste from its one-year transformation is rarely found in other teas.
