Description
Shui Xian (水仙) rock tea is named after the cultivar with the same name, which literally translated as "water sprite" or "narcissus". It is one of the top three most popular rock teas along with Da Hong Pao and Shui Xian. Shui Xian tea is highly prized for its rich and smooth texture. There’s a common saying “No tea can exceed the mellowness of Shui Xian and the fragrance of Rou Gui”. Shui Xian tea trees are arbor trees with big leaves that mature relatively later than other cultivars. This tea is from Hu Xiao Yan of Wuyishan National Park. From the process of shaking the tea leaves - a step unique to oolong teas, it gained natural floralness resembling that of orchid flowers, which is a good quality only found in well-processed teas. This tea is baked with charcoal at a slightly lower temperature than that of the traditional method, so its baking level is a little less than the medium level.
