- Description
- Produced by Lin Yongyuan on Shimen Mountain in Gande, Anxi, this autumn Tie Guan Yin comes from a garden at approximately 825 meters, with south- and southeast-facing slopes and weathered rocky soil beneath a clay-rich upper layer. The traditional Hong Xin Wai Wei Tao tea bushes are maintained without excessive low pruning. Lin reports no chemical fertilizers or herbicides, with occasional organic or farmyard fertilization and manual weed management. The leaves were selectively hand-picked on October 8, 2026, and processed the following day using traditional zheng chao (正炒) techniques. Repeated tossing and resting develop the fragrance before fixation, followed by multiple rounds of rolling and compression to form the characteristic tightly curled leaves. Lin calls this tea Huang Kou Xiang (煌口香), highlighting its especially refined fragrance and silky mouthfeel. He describes a delicate, sweet orchid aroma in the dry leaves, followed by increasingly rich and evolving floral notes across successive infusions. The liquor is exceptionally smooth, with a texture he compares to oil or thin porridge, while its fragrance lingers on the lips and palate.
