Description
Harvested on May 3, 2025 from the 630 m crest of Shimen Village in Anxi’s Gande Township, this tea showcases the heartier side of spring Tie Guan Yin (铁观音). The bushes—heirloom Hong Xin Wai Wei Tao—are tended under fully ecological, organic management: no synthetic pesticides or herbicides, with shade plants and native groundcover supporting a balanced ecosystem. After withering and a touch more oxidation than its fragrant counterpart, the leaves are tightly rolled and then slowly roasted over longan‑wood charcoal in several low‑heat cycles. Patient roasting smooths raw vegetal edges, adding rounded depth without obscuring the cultivar’s natural sweetness. The liquor pours amber‑gold, offering a toasty core, gentle fruit sweetness, and a lingering mineral finish. Like the 2024 spring traditional style from December 2024 tea club, it showcases classic Anxi roast character, but it is a higher grade made with slightly more tender leaves.
