- Description
- "Xiang Xi Ren" (香袭人), whose name evokes an enveloping fragrance, is an aromatic Da Hong Pao blend produced in spring 2025. Made primarily from Que She and Shi Ru, two Wuyi tea cultivars, the leaves come from the core Zheng Yan (正岩) growing area. The producer uses traditional charcoal roasting, carefully balancing the roast to bring together the distinctive aromatic qualities of the component teas. The dry leaves are tightly twisted and glossy, with layered aromas of ripe fruit and caramel. As the tea opens in hot water, these develop into floral notes reminiscent of orchid and osmanthus, supported by gentle charcoal and woody undertones. The liquor is bright orange-red, with a smooth, full-bodied texture, honey-like sweetness, and a lingering floral finish. Rather than emphasizing a single cultivar, "Xiang Xi Ren" demonstrates the art of blending Wuyi rock tea, bringing different aromatic characteristics together into a balanced and expressive Da Hong Pao.
