- Description
- Ya Xi (芽细, roughly “Fine Pluck”) is one of the finest traditional styles of Ya’an Tibetan tea. Historically, Ya’an’s border teas ranged from finer products such as Maojian and Ya Xi to the more robust Kang Brick, Jin Jian, Jin Yu, and Jin Cang. Ya Xi is distinguished by its relatively tender material; this 2022 spring tea uses approximately one bud with one or two leaves—the finest plucking standard among this month’s four Tibetan teas. Made from Lao Chuan Cha harvested in Zhougongshan’s high-mountain ecological tea gardens at 800–1,200 meters, the leaves are processed through the Nanlu Biancha tradition. The dry tea is tight and rounded, with a glossy dark-brown appearance. It brews a bright red liquor with an aged aroma, a sweet and mellow taste, and a notably smooth texture, followed by returning sweetness and a mouthwatering finish.
