- Description
- This 2022 spring tea begins with Lao Chuan Cha harvested at approximately 1,000 meters in Zhougongshan’s high-mountain ecological tea gardens, using roughly one bud with two or three leaves. The leaves are first processed as loose Tibetan dark tea, then scented with edible high-mountain Damascus roses from Xiaojin County in Aba, one of Sichuan’s Tibetan regions. Both the tea and roses are therefore sourced within Sichuan, linking two distinct mountain environments in a fully local production. Rather than simply mixing dried flowers into the finished tea, Zhougongshan uses a traditional scenting process, allowing the dark tea to absorb the rose fragrance while retaining some petals among the leaves. It is an inventive attempt to bring bright floral notes into the deep, mellow character of Tibetan dark tea without obscuring its underlying aged aroma. The finished tea is full and even in appearance, with a glossy dark-brown color and visible rose petals. It brews a bright red liquor in which rose fragrance and aged tea aroma are closely integrated, accompanying a sweet, mellow, full-bodied taste and a lingering finish.
