Fresh Green Tea

This spring, we’ve selected two of the most prized and historically rich green teas from Mt. Mengding in Ya’an, Sichuan Province—both crafted exclusively from hand-plucked single buds. Our curator Vincent has visited Ya’an over a dozen times in the past four years, and Meng Ding Gan Lu (“Sweet Dew”) has remained one of his favorite green teas. Its signature technique—three rounds of pan-frying and rolling—gives it a delicate yet layered profile. Alongside it, we’re featuring Meng Ding Shi Hua (“Stone Flower”), a lesser-known gem that holds even deeper historical significance. First documented during the Tang Dynasty as a tribute tea, it is also recognized as the earliest flat-shaped tea in China. The other two selections are crafted from the classic one bud & one leaf picking standard, hand-plucked and meticulously processed to highlight the regional terroir. Guiding Yunwu, produced in Yunwu (Cloud Mist) Town, Guiding County, Guizhou, is the only tribute tea in China with an official historical stone inscription still preserved today. Yibin Eco Green Tea comes from Junlian County, Yibin, Sichuan, and is produced by a family with four generations of tea-making expertise—the same artisans behind two of the black teas from our January club box.
