Aged Sheng Puerh
In last year’s tea club, we featured young sheng puerh in May and shou puerh in October. To kick us off for 2023, we chose a very special, long-awaited theme: aged sheng puerh. When sheng puerh is stored in good conditions with proper humidity and temperature, it naturally ferments and slowly transforms. Through years of aging, its level of bitterness and astringency decreases, developing more sweetness and a fuller body. Its value also goes up with the number of years aged, and the auction market for aged sheng puerh is very heated. Our selection of aged sheng puerh is diverse in the following ways: - Producing region: 2 from Menghai, 1 from Yiwu, and 1 from Lincang. - Tea tree age: Bulang Arbor is made from old arbor tree tea leaves, and the other 3 are made from Dashu (big tree) tea leaves that are over 100 years old. - Vintage & harvest: Yiwu Dashu is blended from tea leaves from same tea forest across 6 years, and the other 3 are all from a single forest. In total, they cover 2009 to 2015 vintage. - Storage: they are stored at multiple places across 3 provinces.
