Ya'an Tibetan Teas

Welcome to February 2022 MyTeaPal Club! Continuing our exploration of Sichuan green/yellow teas from last month, here we embark on the journey with Ya’an Tibetan teas. A type of fermented Dark Tea, Ya'an Tibetan tea is produced in Ya’an city of Sichuan province and has a continuous history of more than 1300 years since Princess Wencheng took tea to Tibet in CE 641. Usually drank with yak butter, it has become an indispensable part of Tibetans’ everyday life. Historically, the high demand of this tea required much human labor and horses to be transported from Sichuan to Tibet, thus forming the famous Sichuan-Tibet Tea Horse Road. Not until recent years, Tibetan tea factories start entering the specialty tea market by producing more finer grade Tibetan teas, which are what we will be tasting this month. Here we feature 2 A/B tasting sets for original and jasmine scented Tibetan teas, and you can try comparing the differences between them. We also have osmanthus scented and golden flower Tibetan tea, which are rare finds in the market. “Yun He Shan” is overseen by the Master Yang Shaohuai who's a renown figure in the Tibetan tea industry and has published three books on Tea Horse Road, with one of them being adapted to a TV show. Their tea production is led by Master Wang Rongping, a province level tea-making master and national 1st level tea connoisseur. “Sichuan Luck Tea Co.” is previously Ya'an City Tea Factory, one of the few companies licensed by the government to produce and sell Ya'an Tibetan tea to Tibet. Their president Mei Shuhua is recognized in the sixth batch of national level tea-making masters for Ya'an Tibetan Tea. Hope you enjoy all the teas!
