Winter Oolong Teas
Last year, our tea club explored the intricate world of Dancong and Wuyi Rock teas. This month, we're excited to introduce a harmonious fusion—a collection of four Winter Oolongs, skillfully crafted since October. These exceptional teas defy expectations, providing a departure from the familiar spring varieties you may have encountered in the past. In Wuyishan, although 'winter teas' are harvested during the autumn months, they are called 'Dong Pian' (Winter Leaf) due to the naming tradition for the final harvest of the year. We've selected three Winter Rock teas—Rou Gui, Shui Xian, and Da Hong Pao—each sourced from high mountain gardens surrounding the Wuyishan National Park. Harvested in late October, these teas capture the essence of the region's rich terroir, delivering a distinctive flavor profile. In Chaozhou, winter teas are referred to as 'Xue Pian,' and our Da Wu Ye Dancong stands out. Xue Pian teas are harvested from mid-October to November, representing the fifth harvest of the year's cycle. This Winter Dancong was carefully produced in mid-November, earning itself the title of “winter harvest” when compared to the other three “autumn harvest” rock teas.
