Description
This is a Shou Mei grade white tea that was harvested in April of the 2013 spring season. This tea came from the high mountains of Panxi town, and the processing was done properly in preparation for long-term aging. Panxi town is considered one of the best micro-regions for producing the highest quality white tea. Under proper storage conditions, quality Shou Mei will naturally develop a honey aroma over 7 years, and this tea meets the criteria. Besides, its body is full and the taste is clean. When boiled or steeped for a long time, it will have some date and medicinal aroma. As such, it is representative of properly stored aged Shou Mei. It was stored for 10 years in the warehouse before it was officially opened for sale this year. Shou Mei (寿眉, lit. Longevity Eyebrow) got its name because of its crescent shape resembling an old man's eyebrow. Made of naturally withered tips, leaves, and sometimes stems, it is ranked after Bai Hao Yin Zhen and Bai Mu Dan in terms of picking standards. This grade of white tea benefits from its coarser leaves and stems, having the greatest potential for aging among other grades. Leaves and stems contain rich content and flavor, and the spacing of the stems allows more airflow and ultimately a greater level of oxidation while aging.
